We’re looking forward to a very exciting evening ahead at the Citylicious 1st birthday party which is taking place at the Gateway Restaurant at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh tomorrow night. Citylicious has taken the world of food and drink by storm with a vast array of restaurant reviews & reservations, recipes, food and drink news, offers, blogs and an online shop offering artisan products which includes our very own Marvellous Mustard kits. Over 150 people will be joining Iain Fenwick and Kate Lenart, the founders of Citylicious to celebrate what has been a phenomenal first year in business.
We’ve long been fans of the huge talent that is Edinburgh chef Mark Greenaway and just over a month ago, we wrote a tweet asking if he would like to try our mustards – a bit cheeky but that’s how we roll! To our delight, he said yes, so Belinda popped in to see him in his stunning restaurant, little knowing what would result. After some great chat, Mark kindly agreed to try our mustards (we gave him a couple of jars of ready mades as well as a kit) and said he would be in touch the next day. What followed blew our marvellous little socks off, he told us he was going to be creating one of the dishes at the Citylicious birthday party and that he would like to use our mustard. He wanted it to be flavoured with truffles and set in a jelly to subsequently be cut into cubes to accompany delicious winter vegetables, all served in a jar. We were absolutely over the moon, to have such an iconic Scottish chef think highly enough of our mustard to use it in a dish was beyond our wildest dreams!
Belinda paid another visit to Mark to discuss the truffle mustard and was in seventh heaven when Mark brought out a box containing 3 fabulous truffles which smelt divine. Being slightly nervous about using such an expensive product, she was very thankful when Mark said that he would add the truffles himself once we provided the base mustard. Two different mustards were delivered to him on Friday and Belinda breathed a big sigh of relief when he chose the one he was going to use. It had half the amount of mustard powder usually used in our mustards so as to not drown out the taste of the truffles. The result is below and we can’t wait to see and taste it tomorrow night.

Mark is unassuming and incredibly modest given his amazing success and we really are delighted that he has supported us, we look forward to hopefully hatching more plans together in the future, watch this space. Our Head Chef Belinda may not be a real chef but she sure knows how to pick the best and most engaging professional one to be cheeky to!
